Mermaid Forest
A while back I was blobbing around on Rumic World and saw this, and thought it looked interesting. Basically, the plot follows Mana and Yuta, two humans who have eaten mermaid's flesh. Most people who eat it are either poisoned or become "lost souls" (a.k.a. they turn into monsters), very few survive to become immortal. Most of the story (so far) are incidents where they meet people trying to become immortal (or getting it for family, ect.) or dealing with the problems of eating Mermaid's Flesh. It's one of RT's more serious stories, I ended up crying at one point. Really, really sad. I seriously doubt cathy will ever watch this, so I'll cut and slightly edit Wikipedia to give an overview of the first episode, as I cannot be bothered to review it myself. Sorry.
Anyway, here's Wiki:
Around midnight, a fifteen year-old girl named Mana watches out the window with the moonlight along with a mysterious moaning ghost-like noises. She orders and old woman looking after her to stop the noises. The old woman tells Mana that there is nothing they can do to stop the noises. The noises only happen when there is a full moon or a new moon out.
A traveler named Yuta asks for directions to go to the mountains. He is searching for a mermaid.
Later at dusk, while Mana is eating her dinner, the old woman complimented her as the most beautiful woman that had ever been in the world, but Mana was tired of hearing those compliments so she threw her entire meal at her.
At night, Mana lies in bed, having flashbacks that the old woman and the other women from the village adopted her as a little girl, remembering all they do is carry her around, never letting her walk and go outside. She wishes she can walk. Meanwhile, the old woman calls a meeting about Mana. All the women there have the same face. The old woman announces that this is a time for one of the women's sacrifice. They chose a woman named Ayu, as the women said that Ayu has lived the longest.
In a hidden cave, Ayu takes off all of her clothes and enters the pool, her legs turn into a tail, and then the women kill her. One of the women then cuts the mermaid flesh out from the tail.
The next day, in the afternoon, the old woman brings in Mana's lunch with mermaid's flesh as a dish. Mana asked what kind of fish is it and Baba told her that this is the rarest fish the women had caught. Mana then slowly eats the meat, enjoys the rich taste and eats more and more. She catches Baba's sudden expression and throws her bowl of rice at Baba for staring at her.
The women were full of excitement when they hear that Mana has eaten the mermaid's flesh. But their happiness was interrupted when they hear that a man has entered their side of the mountains. Yuta arrives on top of the mountain is startled to find so many women living in such a deserted place. They suddenly kill Yuta and throw his body down to the pit of a cave with the remains of Ayu. Within a few hours, the tribe have decided to take Mana outside, when Yuta (having revived) bursts into her room, carrying the carcass of a mermaid. The women try to attack him again. Yuta wastes no time on taking Mana hostage but discovers that her legs were locked. They hid in the cave with Yuta while he explains his story to Mana to why he is searching for a mermaid: He is an immortal of five hundred years, in desperate need of regaining his mortality by meeting a mermaid.
Suddenly, a horrifying creature called a Lost Soul attacks Yuta and Mana, who escape out the cave. Yuta leaves Mana to talk with the women and discovers that the women in the village are in fact mermaids who want to regain their youth by eating an immortal (i.e. Mana)
Yuta and Mana hide in the cave again, but Yuta is attacked and posioned. Mana spits the poison out of Yuta as he passes out. The old woman decides to flood the area, to drive them out to the ocean where they can easily catch them and devour Mana. As they are pushed out to sea Yuta sees dozens of mermaids coming to attack. Mana and Yuta escape from the sea, but the old woman follows. She tells them they may as well be killed now, as it would be far less painful to die quickly than to be immortal (as they now are) and to live forever. She then tells them that she too is an immortal human and that she will stay with the mermaids until the end of time.
It's looking to be really good - there are some bits that seriously surprised me. I was really surprised it was ON veoh, I thought it'd be pretty unknown.

My Summer Of Love
Before I start, I am celebrating Obsession's 333rd post!! Mwhahaha. Jiron - 2 posts, ouch, that's gotta hurt. Tatsu - 6, pretty painful, but at least not too embaressing. Kayomi - 88, promising, and finally, either amazingly or embarrassingly, cathy - 236! With this being my 237th. Devotion or what. Shows I am weirdly obsessive, but then i do post alot of rubbish. I officially claim 71% of posts. Nyahah! Ha! HA! Anyways, moving on to the subject matter - My Summer Of Love. I am posting this because it has obsessive connections and it was a good film!

cover

In Yorkshire, two girls meet for the first time when Tamsin (Emily Blunt), a manipulative, rich girl suffering from parental neglect, rides into a field on horseback and chances upon Mona (Natalie Press), a simple working-class girl, while the latter is resting in the grass. Opposites attract as the girls come from vastly different backgrounds and meet under very different circumstances - the former is from a posh, upper-middle-class family and is under suspension from boarding school for being a bad influence, while the latter, bored with her mundane life, comes from a dysfunctional family, her recently-released prisoner brother, Phil (Paddy Considine), being her only living family member. The new acquaintances set off together, one on horseback and the other on a sputtering scooter.

When Mona arrives home, she finds her brother, in the pub that was once run by their mother, removing all the alcohol from the pub. He has undergone an extreme religious transformation during his stint in prison and this is part of his preparation for a rally for Christian converts. Mona meets her lover that night, whereupon they have sex in his car, right before he breaks up with her. A disgusted Mona is then left alone in the parking lot. The next day, Mona arrives at Tamsin's in order to escape from the rally organised by her brother. The girls begin to bond as they spend the day drinking and smoking while talking about the problems they face in their lives. Their sharing brings to light several of Tamsin's family secrets, such as the fact that Tamsin's sister, Sadie, died due to anorexia, as well as her father's extramarital affair with his secretary.

It gets better but I won't say anymore. It is definitely worth watching and the ending is great. I hate films with shite endings. Anyways, the reason i watched it was because Goldfrapp composed some of the music for it! Their song lovely head was used in the opening credits, during the film, and i can't remember about closig credits but prob not. They then made these weird sounds which were used through the film. See look in the corner!!! YAY!!! The music was really cool and i am thinking about buying it. It's good. I can't be bothered to look around on youtube though - lazy. Ok no worries - just found shitty trailer but it has the gf music at the begging, and the rest is lovely head. I don't know what else to say... It's good, with good music. I confess the music made me watch it but had no influence on my view of it. I was actually prejudiced against it because i was worried the music would be misused. But no. Also, the other gf music isnt used very often so it could hardly sway me. It does rock. I hope youz guyz thinkz itz lookz interessant. Please comment.

The Dreaming
The Dreaming is one of Kate's most beloved songs by fans. It's really really odd, and very experimental. The animal noises are made by a person (hahaha) and Rolf Harris, who is a friend of Kate's, played the Didjeridu, however the long didjeridu/ irish instrument solo has been cut off for the video, however is present on the audio. Shame, it's good. You can't see her rockin dancin very well in this vid, so I was ponderin a postin another video of her live of some foreign TV show, sounds Italian, where Kate is soooo bored as the produced keeps blabbing hahaha. The dancing there is great. However they all think she is INSANE and no one had ever done a song this this before and no one has since... I wonder why. I love her bonkersness. You can tell why she's such an influence.

'Bang!' goes another kanga
On the bonnet of the van.
"See the light ram through the gaps in the land."
Many an Aborigine's mistaken for a tree
'Til you near him on the motorway
And the tree begin to breathe.
"See the light ram through the gaps in the land."

("Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha")
Coming in with the golden light
In the morning.
Coming in with the golden light
Is the New Man.
Coming in with the golden light
Is my dented van.

Woomera.
"Dree-ee-ee-ee-ee-
A-a-a-a-a-
M-m-m-m-m-
Ti-ti-ti-ti-ti-
I-i-i-i-i-
Me-me-me-me-me,"

Me-me-me-me-me.

"Dree-ee-ee-ee-ee-
A-a-a-a-a-
M-m-m-m-m-
Ti-ti-ti-ti-ti-"

The civilised keep alive
The territorial war.
"See the light ram through the gaps in the land."
Erase the race that claim the place
And say we dig for ore,
Or dangle devils in a bottle
And push them from the Pull of the Bush.
"See the light ram through the gaps in the land."
You find them in the road.
"See the light bounce off the rocks to the sand."
In the road.

Coming in with the golden light
In the morning.
Coming in with the golden light
With no warning.
Coming in with the golden light
We bring in the rigging.
Dig, dig, dig, dig away.

"Dree-ee-ee-ee-ee-
A-a-a-a-a-
M-m-m-m-m-
Ti-ti-ti-ti-ti-
I-i-i-i-i-
Me-me-me-me-me,"

Single Cover:

However on youtube someone commented saying it was "uimingane. Meaning: For all his conquering of the bush, he still hasn't conquered Kate Bush. He's saying what did I gain?"
That makes sense, but i guess we'll never know which one it is.

Gaffa says (this is where i copied the lyrics from, as typing takes millions of years)
[*--"Oh, re mikayina!": Only an approximate
phonetic writing of a few words spoken in Aborigine
at the end of this song. I have been told that it
is a reference to an Aborigine song about the
incursion of Western culture into their land, called
Airplane, Airplane.]

That makes sense too! Ahhhhhhhh.... I love this song. It's off her oddest album.. but I think it's her joint best!! So dark.. hehehehe eheh. Anyways. Enjoy laughing. I'll post the live one soon, to spare you. for now.

Single back: (Kate looks lovely!!!)

Ok I think I've said enough. The song's meaning is very confusing, but the whole of the album "the dreaming" is about people hurting each other, well, not, but yes, but not. About that and relationships. It's about the war and aborigines. I can't explain but it makes sense in my head. I love the comedy with the dented van. So funny. Anyway, hehe. Yes it's odd. At least I didn't post the chicken dance which some fans did. Anyway... feel free to laugh at it... I know it's prob hilarious to non fans.
